Quick and Easy Travel Tips for an Awesome Vacation

Surprise, many frequent travellers find as they get older, all that travelling created health problems.

But it doesn’t have to.

Many of the woes people suffer on vacation are very avoidable, especially with these tips.

Do These Before You Travel

Hydrate well.

Think of your body weight in pounds. Cut this number in half. That’s how many ounces of water you should be drinking each day.

For example, if you weigh 150 pounds, you should drink at least 75 ounces of water, which is about 10 cups, per day.

Plan ahead and sip your way to the quota at regular, planned intervals.

Get (or give yourself) a massage using essential oils like lavender, frankincense or sandalwood.

Not only does this relieve stress.

Many travel environments – airplanes, cars or even your destination – suck the vital oils and water right out your skin.

The massage and oils are not just for skin health or to look good. This also helps pump up your body’s defenses.

Drink a warm cup of water with lemon or herb tea immediately after you wake up in the morning. This is the time when your body naturally works to remove toxins.

Avoid colon weakening laxatives and cascara sagrada.

Eat easy to digest, warm, soupy foods. Use healthy oils like grass fed butter, ghee, coconut oil or avocado.

Take care of your travel plans early. Sure, it’s easy to say, “be organized.”

But packing early, getting documents in order, even putting gas in the car… saves you from so much stress and grief later.

You probably know this already, but this is such an important habit to learn.

If you are a last minute person, you owe it to yourself to make some changes.

Before friends, family (or the little voice in your head) gets disappointed when you forgot something.

Try to bring your own healthy snacks from home. What they serve on an airplane (pretzels or chips and soda) is the exact opposite of what you need.

During Travel

Take several stretch breaks to maintain good circulation.

Plan when you’ll take these breaks – ahead of time. Otherwise, these breaks usually do not happen.

Stay hydrated.

Yes, it may mean more bathroom breaks, but you’ll enjoy your vacation so much more!

And hey, looking for the next bathroom will help you stay awake, right?

Take along some organic coconut oil. The food kind at the grocery store.

This doubles as food and massage oil.

If you’re flying, just pack 2oz in your clear quart size ziplock baggie.

It’s a great snack additive or an in-flight massage oil for hands, face and more.

And for massage, why not bring along some essential oils? Combine a few drops with a tablespoon or more of the coconut oil.

Essential oils are amazing multi-purpose travel items.

To name just a couple uses, some essential oils are powerful antibiotics, like thyme, rosemary or clove oil. Others like lavender are great for stress relief and better sleep.

On Arrival

Eat a warm meal with some good fat: avocado, coconut oil or grass fed butter.

Take a hot shower (or if you can, a plunge in the ocean too) as soon as possible.

Watch the sunset and sunrise. It helps your body adjust to any new time zones.

Life (and travel) takes it out of you. I’d love to help you put it back in.
